Plot

Based on the subversive 2005 novel ‘Serve the People!’ by Chinese author Yan Lianke, SERVE THE PEOPLE focuses on a peasant soldier and his unexpected liaison with a military commander’s wife in North Korea. Mugwang distinguishes himself in the army and receives a coveted post as a cook in the home of a division commander. While the commander is away on a business trip, Mugwang starts to be seduced by his commander’s young wife Sooryun.
