Near future. A husband and wife are fired from the work. She is expected to deliver her first baby soon. As they can’t afford to have a baby, they apply to a program that the government encourages.
Films don’t always have to reflect what’s going on in society but by witnessing gloomy situations caused by the Asian financial crisis, I had to make the film. The financial crisis caused not only unemployment but also ‘deconstruction of family’. I place the situation in near future to avoid artificially direct comment. Instead of imitating SF film, I tried to portray people who suffer from the painful situation.
