Plot

Sun-ie meets Syer, a master sergeant from the Netherlands, as she is evacuating during the Korean War. Sun-ie receives help from Syer but due to the 'mass surge tactics' of Red China's army, they are separated. During the attack, the Korean soldier Apple is killed, and Syer has to go along through cruel hardship. In a ruined village, Syer and Sun-ie along with her sister have a dramatic reunion. The Chinese soldiers attack again and the three go through the tragedy of war. The three struggle to survive but in the end, only Syer manages to escape with his life. A panorama of images - numerous Koreans and U.N. soldiers dying - pass through Syer's mind and the love he and Sun-ie were unable to finish sears his heart.
