Plot
It is about refugees who stay alive by stealing coal and US army goods on the outskirts of Yongsan, just after the Recovery of 1953. A local resident, Hae-ryong, conspires with Chun-ho, to demolish the village and to build a new factory. The refugees, including Man-seok and Dae-seob, strongly oppose the plan and it fails because Dae-seob kills himself and Man-seok resists it. Hae-ryong is put into prison. As soon as Hae-ryong is released, he bulldozes the village, including Yeong-ae, who loves him and has been waiting for him. In the end, Hae-ryong finds the body of Yeong-ae and cries, holding her in his arms.
