A hill separates the upper side and lower side of town, and the two towns constantly rival against each other. There is a church and a night school in the middle of the two towns but they are both deserted. Minister Seo Jae-wun emphasizes love among neighbors but people merely scorn at him. When his beautiful daughter Maria returns home from Hawaii, the ringleader of the town gang, Gae Go-gi, Supervisor Won from the coal mines, and the ringleader of the upper town gang Gyeong Chil-sam all fall in love with her and vie for her attention. Supervisor Won has evil plans to put Gae Go-gi and Gyeong Chil-sam in trouble, but the two collaborate to defeat Supervisor Won and decide to shake and be friends. The two start to attend night school and lead the new lifestyle movement in both towns.
