Yeong-deuk and Jeong-sun and engaged. Yeong-deuk comes back home after completing his studies and meets the wrong kind of friends who revel in liquor and women. Yeong-deuk squanders all of his family assets and is almost beaten to death at a gambling joint. Jeong-sun nurses him back to health but Yeong-deuk has no will to go on when he has so much debt. His father pays off the debt for him with his life savings that he had built up bit by bit. Yeong-deuk finally realizes the importance of saving and vows to Jeong-sun that he will live a honest life.
