Plot
Bangja, the servant of Mong-ryong, falls in love with Chun-hyang, the daughter of a giesaeng (Korean geisha), the first time he sees her in Cheongpunggak while accompanying his master. He tries to forget about her because he knows his master Mong-ryong is also enamored by her beauty. But Bang-ja is mad at Mong-ryong, who looks down on him; he professes his love to Chun-hyang. Chun-hyang also feels attracted to Bang-ja because of his manliness and gentleness; at last, Bangja wins her. But Chun-hyang cannot give up her dream of winning over Mong-ryong to improve her social status; she makes a vow with Mong-ryong to keep the bond forever. Bang-ja knows that, but he cannot forget her.
One day, Mong-ryong wins first place in a state examination and returns to Chun-hyang. He proposes some kind of deal for even greater success ahead.
