Plot
Cheol-ho finishes the 10 year sentence he received for participating in the March 1st Independence Movement in 1919 and is released from prison. Unable to overcome the grim realities of life, his wife had remarried. When she attempts to kill herself out of guilt, he saves her and they live together once more. Cheol-ho gets a job in a factory and realizes that the laborers are filled with dissatisfaction because of horrible working conditions and the capitalists' tyranny. When Deok-sam, who had married his wife for a short while, and the factory owner announce a reduction in wages and worker dismissals due to recession in the economy, the enraged laborers go into strike. A huge fight between the laborers and capitalists takes place and Cheol-ho is thrown into jail once more after fighting with Deok-sam.
