Won-gwang, once a talented soccer player with a promising future, is now called a "swindler." Now, the war-ravaged East Timor is the land of last hope for Won-Gwang (Park Hee-soon) who is desperate to turn his life around. He dreams of making a fortune by selling coffee but ends up getting swindled by a con artist. In-gi, an embassy employee, tries to talk Won-gwang into flying back to Korea.
On his way to the airport, his last chance comes to him. He sees children playing soccer barefoot on the rough, dusty ground! Thinking he can redeem himself by selling soccer shoes, he opens a sports goods store and sells products in installments but realizes that the kids cannot afford them.
Again, falling into despair, he is about to close the store. But he refuses to give up and decides to teach the kids how to play ball. The war leaves a deep scar on their hearts, and the children do not pass ball at first. But they begin to open up and get immersed in playing soccer. Finally, they advance to the international youth soccer championship.
