| In Spring, all living creatures come to life. A boy ties a pebble to the frog, snake, and fish that he caught, and bursts into laughter watching them. An old monk, who has been watching him, ties a rock to the boy¡¯s back while he is sleeping. When the boy wakes up and whimpers, the old monk tells him that unless he undoes his mistake, it will become his karma for the rest of his life. The boy is now 17 years old, and a girl of the same age comes to the temple for rehabilitation. The boy¡¯s heart fills with love for the girl, and the old monk senses their love. After the girl leaves the temple the boy cannot untie himself from his obsession, and leaves the temple too. After more than 10 years have passed, he returns as a fugitive after killing his wife for betraying him. He cannot suppress the anger and pain that is as red as the crimson autumn leaves, and tries to kill himself in front of Buddha¡¯s statue. |
