The tenth prince of Chosun dynasty, Yeon-san, yearns for motherly love when his mother Queen Yun dies 3 months after his birth. This yearning manifests itself in his preference for women like Jang Nok-su. Thus, he ignored the national politics and administration for 10 years and it resulted in the slaughter of scholars in the Year of Rat. At the height of his demise, he is run out and Prince Jin-sung, his brother, is put on the thrown by his ministers. Two months later, he dies in Kyo-dong.
