After being widowed, Pil-nyeo remarries, but she loses her second husband to an accident. She swears never to marry again and starts working in the coal yard. One day she is raped by a supervisor, and marries him. Having been betrayed by his former wife, he hates women, and abuses Pil-nyeo. Despite all this, she risks her life for her husband. He regrets his wrongdoings, but it is too late. He cries, holding his dying wife in his arms.
