| It is about refugees who stay alive by stealing coal and US army goods on the outskirts of Yongsan, just after the Recovery of 1953. A local resident, Park Am, conspires with Choi Nam-hyeon, to demolish the village and to build a new factory. The refugees, including Kim Seung-ho and Choi Sam, strongly oppose the plan and it fails because Choi Sam kills himself and Kim Seung-ho resists it. Park Am is put into prison. As soon as Park Am is released, he bulldozes the village, including Kim Ji-mee, who loves him and has been waiting for him. In the end, Park Am finds the body of Kim Ji-mee and cries, holding her in his arms. |
